Wrapping up 2008

So much has happened since my last entry. I will try to catch up and vow to do better in 2009.

Sadie turned 6 on December 14th! She invited 4 friends from school over for a ballet party. A great time was had by all the little ballerinas!

Sadie also lost her very first top tooth. That makes 5 total.

As of December 19th, Violet is officially a walker - FINALLY! It only took 20 months. I was beginning to think it was never going to happen. She is so proud of herself!

Christmas was great. It was a year of moderation which I am grateful for. I always feel like Christmas is so excessive and this year was different. I decided to make most of our gifts this year. That 

included 32 dozen chocolate chip cookies. Yes, you read that right. For all you non-math wizards out there, that amounts to almost 400 cookies. 32 sticks of butter. 32 eggs. 16 bags of chocolate 

chunks. 40 cups of flour. 24 cups of sugar and one very tired mama! I also knitted 4 scarves, 3 hats and a dragon, of which I took pictures of none. They turned out pretty cute if I do say so!

The kids were great. They had so much fun. Although, Jonah was pretty scared that this might be the year that Santa actually wasn't going to bring them anything. Every year it is the same thing: "You better behave or Santa won't bring you anything." And every year, the behavior is not so good but Santa comes anyway. On Christmas Eve, Jonah asked, "If Santa doesn't come, will we still get presents from you and Daddy?" Then on Christmas morning, I always go out in the living room first so I can get their reactions (Santa doesn't wrap his gifts in our house). Jonah asked, "Did we get coal?" I think he was really scared! Anyway, I guess you have to be REALLY bad for Santa not to come because he left each of them what they asked for.

We also celebrated Hanukah with the Weiss family. Jonah is learning about Jewish traditions in school this 

year so we thought it would be fun to see real live Jews in action. ;-) My friend Robin invited us over for the last night of Hanukah. We had latkes, lighted the Menorah and played dreidel. The kids even got to make an edible dreidel out of pretzels, marshmallows, peanut butter and Hershey kisses. They had a great time!

I can't believe another year is beginning. Time really does fly. My New Year's resolutions for 2009 are (besides being better about blogging) to declutter my house, my mind and my body! Wish me luck!
