Cupcakes for dinner!

In preparation for a First Birthday Cake Smash photo shoot today, there was lots of talk of cupcakes in our house this past week. I promised the kids that we would go to Gigi's and pick out cupcakes and today, I lived up to that promise. MmmMmMmmmMMMMM!

OK, we really didn't have cupcakes for dinner, but we were totally going to (until Violet fell asleep in the car on the way to Gigi's Cupcakes)! Instead, we took them home to enjoy.

Beating the heat

It's hot as Hades outside and we have been going stir crazy in the house. To beat the heat and the boredom, the kids decided to build a fort on Wednesday. Today is Friday and it is still taking over my living room.

There is not a chair or cushion to sit on (including in the dining room) nor a blanket to spare (not that we need them for warmth right now). They have slept in their fort for the last two nights and intend to sleep there again tonight.

I love how they collaborated to build this monstrosity. It took them several attempts and a few hours to get it just right. It even has two rooms. It is very creative and quite cozy, I must say. I spent a good deal of time in there yesterday hiding out from Violet.
