Our Journey Together

That is the title of the poem Jonah wrote for his 5th grade graduation from the Waldorf School last Friday, June 3, 2011.

Here is the rest of the poem:

Finally our journey through the Waldorf School has ended.
For eight straight years, it is where I have attended.

It's a wonderful school full of freedom, learning and fun.
Seems like yesterday was kindergarten and now we move on.

In first grade I arrived on the playground.
I was so scared, I did not make a sound.

Called up to the platform to receive my own rose,
Tingling with excitement from my head to my toes.

In second grade we learned of saints, dragons, and knights.
Went on a trip to Clifty Falls – twas a magical sight.

In third grade we learned how the world was created.
And when Eve picked the apple, Eden dissipated.

In fourth grade we studied the land of our home.
It's a beautiful state with hills wherever you roam.

We also learned how the Norse gods met their downfall.
Odin fell to Fenrir while Thor lost his brawl.

In fifth grade we studied the great gods of Greece.
Some are unsettled but others render peace.

We also competed against other great schools.
At the Pentathlon, there were three simple rules.

Five Greek sports where truth, beauty, and grace were key.
The events were fun but javelin was for me!

Graduation's come and we're leaving here at last.
After reading this poem and looking into the past...

We head into our future without any concern,
Because we realize how much fun it is to learn.
